Paralympic Stories is a journey, which begun September 29 th 2014, with a specific destination: the Paralympic Games of RIO 2016.
The project was born from the visions and the vision of the social cooperative organization MATRIOSKA, working since 2006 with communication, expression and creativity with people with physical and cognitive disabilities.
It was also born from the experience of CESC PROJECT in the Civil Service projects in Latin America (Brazil and Argentina), and from the love and daily support of SOCIEDADE CULTURAL PROJETO LUAR, project founded in 1990 by the dancer Rita Serpa in the Jardim Primavera area, the municipality of Duque de Caxias, Baixada Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro.
Our project is an indipendent project, carried on by a coordinator and few part-time bloggers, and living thanks to the athletes, the readers, the people we keep meeting everyday.
We rely on humanity more than on technology, and we feel really proud about it.
We speak, and write in four languages: Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and English. The people involved in the project come from all across the world.
We want to tell Paralympic stories, which means discovering worlds, building networks, opening new roads. It means climbing up to the highest peaks of Paralympic sport and at the same time stay with those who will not climb, but love to play, to run, to throw. We want to connect apparently distant worlds (Brazil, Argentina, Italy) and find out that you can ask the same questions.
We don’t talk about disability but about life, performance, social conditions, results, disappointments, reactions. We talk about people, gorgeous and full of imperfections, we are meeting everyday. People who practices some sport o have practiced it, and people believing in sport as a weapon to spread a good way of life.
